Hewlett-Packard, or HP as it is abbreviated, is one of the largest American tech giants in the world, which was recently broken up. The company is best known for its line of printers but has over the years, built medical equipment and as of late, invested heavily in a diverse array of unrelated technologies.

Conceived and run out of a one-car garage, the company’s rise to glory has a lot to do with what it and the people that work for it believe. That’s why it is so important to analyze their vision and corporate values in the absence of HP’s mission statement.

HP Mission Statement

“The HP Way”

Now even though HP does not have an official mission statement, the “The HP Way” best reflects that the company has its own way of doing things. However, it leads us to examine the company’s corporate objectives to determine what this means. After all, we need to know what encompasses the “HP Way.”

Top on HP’s priority is customer loyalty. One-way HP does that is by delivering valuable products. However, it also ensures that customers remain loyal by offering top-notch customer service. So, customers feel secure and insured in a way when buying an HP product.

HP like all other corporations is driven by profit and growth. HP’s methodology of deriving profit setting corporate objectives and achieving them. That can be introducing new products, adjusting pricing, and forging partnerships with new suppliers.

HP is also an international corporation. While the company takes a global approach, they also have a more local approach with their marketing, product branding, etc. That has, over the years, allowed HP to be synonymous with many communities.

HP Vision Statement

HP’s vision statement is: “Our vision is to create technology that makes life better for everyone, everywhere — every person, every organization, and every community around the globe. This motivates us — inspires us — to do what we do. To make what we make. To invent, and to reinvent. To engineer experiences that amaze. We won’t stop pushing ahead, because you won’t stop pushing ahead. You’re reinventing how you work. How you play. How you live. With our technology, you’ll reinvent your world. This is our calling. This is a new HP.”

It is no wonder that technology is the focus of HP’s vision statement. An overview of the vision statement clearly shows that the company wants to continue building and researching new technology, which adds value and consequently makes the world a better place. The vision encompasses everything from cloud computing to Nano computing and building better, smaller and lighter laptops.

Referencing the term “new HP” alludes to the company’s new vision after it was broken up. Interestingly this is HPs joint vision statement because both businesses are tech-driven.

The vision statement also draws attention to the company taking its inspiration from customers. That alludes to HP’s ability to work on customer feedback seriously and incorporate that in upcoming products. It is one of the reasons why HP continues to be one of the leading businesses in the world despite having been broken up.

HP Core Values

HP’s core values are: Trust and respect for individuals, Achievement, and contribution, Results through teamwork, Meaningful innovation, Uncompromising integrity

HP has an interesting set of core values that focus on individuals. One reason for this is that HP relies on every individual employee, supplier, and partner for results. That’s why “teamwork” is a big part of its value system.

By representing and trusting people, HP has been able to build a brand that has become synonymous with technology and a household name. The “uncompromising integrity” that HP includes in its core values is perhaps the most valuable because only companies with integrity can survive and thrive as long as HP has in recent years.
